AJLI’s Strategic Roadmap process is taking a in-depth look at who we (Junior Leagues) are, what we do, and further, how we might improve our value proposition to women by offering them an environment, that works for their lives, in which they can thrive as community and civic leaders.
The next phase of the Strategic Roadmap process is the implementation of Action Learning Teams (ALTs). The ALTs are a best practices-based research and development model designed to help put theory into practice, exploring new ideas for Junior Leagues across the country.
Sound interesting? Well, here is your chance to get involved! The Junior League of Saint Paul will be participating on one of the Action Learning Teams, making the commitment to focus on governance and management with 5 other Leagues over the next 3 years.
We will be looking specifically at the following:
• Systems that create a separation between governance and management, designing ways to build a more stable pool of women ready to move from management to roles more focused on effective governance.
• Redesigning League nominating systems to ensure excellence in governance as well as appropriate management expertise; working on competency based systems; and, removing placement tasks from nominating such as leadership placement.
• Developing methods that support longer terms for the Board and/or Management group in order to enable Leagues to more effectively achieve strategic, longer-term community impact with less loss of time due to transition.
JLSP is currently looking for New, Active and Sustaining members to serve on JLSP’s League Work Team that will implement for JLSP the innovations brought forth from the ALT. Committee members would remain on this committee from now until the end of the 2012-2013 League year. This would be in addition to a member’s regular placement.
The committee will consist of members with a variety of League experience. If you are interested in being a part of JLSP’s League Work Team, please contact Dianna Peterson at president@jlsp.org by February 15.
Committee members should be comfortable working collaboratively with others, have strong listening skills, be comfortable asking questions, open to all perspectives and comfortable with change.
